IEP meeting

I finally got an IEP meeting! We only get one per year, so this was only the second I have gotten since she started the program this time last year. Overall, she's making great progress and meeting or nearly meeting most goals.

Social goals: tolerate new staff/students and nonverbal students, learn how to play simple board games with marker and counting dice (and understand whose turn it is), interact appropriately with toys (example: not stuffing them all under the indoor climber!), and very importantly: animal noises are only for recess! It is not okay to be under the table meowing during class time, because then she gets all the other kids doing it too so then everyone is making animal noises at once! (though I do wish I could see that!)

Speech: Going to work on "When" and other Wh questions, as well as communication ability to be able to correctly identify things that are NOT in the basket, for example, as well as word order such as "What he is doing?" Oh, and still working on he/she. She often says "he" for "she."

Adaptive: Putting toys away. Only doing this 1/5 times now, (though her other school says she has no problem with this). Still working on getting the coat on and off, with sleeves NOT inside out, and being able to fasten without help. That's a big one for the teachers. Seems that skill could make or break you in kindergarten.

Our OT got scaled back to just consult unless further needed. At first I was upset but then realized she was only getting 30 minutes of very surface level OT anyway, so nothing much to miss there. They can't help us with our main sensory issues: food textures, loud noises (like flushing toilets), discomfort hearing certain words (including her own name!), and motion-seeking behavior.

All in all, it was what I expected. It's the school district. They have tight budgets and very low standards.
