"take my dress"

We are mastering the art of getting dressed and picking out outfits independently (oh the horror).

But most of our problems with getting dressed is within the dialog:

"I wanna take my dress" = get dressed

Just to clarify, AKA will not wear a dress, which makes this all the more confusing.

Rephrasing it correctly for the past year has been futile. She still insists to "take my dress," but then gets pissed off if I say, "It's time to get dressed," and screams, "No dress! Don't wanna a dress!" So I say, "time to put clothes on." Most times that gets a scream too: "No! Not clothes! Pants and shirt and underpants and socks and shoes."

Of course all this must go on in the dark hours of the early morning when I have had little sleep = no patience.
