The defense needs to rest

I am exhausted. The single mom thing is exhausting. The child on the spectrum thing is exhausting. But what just adds further exhaustion is having to constantly defend my child's diagnosis to every living soul. It makes me wish I had never told anyone about her diagnosis, and just go on letting them blame me for her problems. From now on when I get the usual "But she seems fine"s from people we just met or from people we don't see often, I will just say, "You think so? Well, if you say so. I will take your word for it. Her doctor must be wrong then. Thanks! Now all our problems will just go away, since she seems fine--to you."
